This year it will be a slow one for my little garden, there won't be much crops growing, specially this summer that I won't be around as much. However I do have a couple things growing very well, like my grapes.
I was not expecting them to give fruit this year because they took a long time to sprout after winter. Also, they took a long time without showing any signs of flowering.
Around mid may suddenly there was a small flower bunch growing. Some time after that they become little fruits and they have been growing since.
They lost a big part of their bunch because of storms and wind, but there is still enough fruit growing to be proud of.
I hope they will taste great! And I look forward to many more years when more and more will grow every season.
I will let you guys know how they do.

ReplyDeleteWe have a well established vine in our greenhouse that usually produces loads of grapes and a year or so ago we planted a couple on our plot although we will need a better summer than this one if they are to produce any fruit.
ReplyDeleteWell, Fer, if you can get grape to produce fruit in a container, I hope mine planted near the patio will get busy! You must tell us how sweet the grapes are.
ReplyDeleteGrapes on a balcony in a container--very impressive! You always amaze me, Fer, with what you accomplish in your little garden in Japan!
ReplyDeleteThat grape vine looks great, Fer! Is the grape vine a green variety? I am so surprised it is doing so well in container. I always thought one had to grow in ground. Is it a dwarf variety?
ReplyDeleteI don't think I have ever seen grape flowers which is odd because I often see grape vines with grapes. I hope you have many years of plentiful harvest!
ReplyDeleteGreat to see you back posting again!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! My grape vines have grown well; but I'm yet to train them. Hopefully, I can do some work @ the terrace garden this weekend. (Fingers crossed!)
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful when you get a blossom like that. Those grapes look lovely. That is one fruit I would love to be able to grow but it just wouldn't work with the poof UK climate unfortunately.
ReplyDeleteNice photographs, beautiful plants. I am greeting
ReplyDeleteI am always amazed how gifted you are in your flourishing garden. Thanks to Bom for posting me this way again.
ReplyDeleteGod bless you to get your lovable grape from your home garden. Your photos are super.
ReplyDeleteI must admit I didn't think it was possible to get the vine growing from such a small container. I'm interested as to what climate you generally have their with regards to average temperatures?
ReplyDeleteBeen a long time since I saw updates here. All is well?
ReplyDeleteHai..im from sabah malaysia..I have grape tree..but i x know how to grow it in a tight way actually...it have less leaves...x know why...but it keep on grwing also...should i change it to a bigger container? Can i do that? how can i trim it?
ReplyDeleteYes you can change the pot and you have to keep trimming the plant, is ok. They have no problems you trimming them. God Bless!
DeleteHope all is well, would be great to see some more posts again.
ReplyDeleteI wonder how big is the container for one grape to live comfortably :-). I am growing two vine in a 15 gallons container and I don't know if it's big enough. My balcony looks exactly like yours and I don't really have more space for bigger container.
ReplyDeleteFer, what is that grapevine support called and where can I find it in the U.S. . . . maybe at WalMart?
ReplyDeleteNice planting want to know more on how i can grow grapes and fruits on my terrace
